Just a short note to let our members know that this morning the Secretary and the President appeared in the Brisbane Supreme court in the matter of iCAN -V- Duffy & Turni. The matter and the decision is now in the hands of his Honourable Justice Boddice. He will hand down his decision in due course. In the meantime we will be continuing to operate as per normal and continue to support the citizens of Ipswich.
Should you have any questions or would like to discuss any concerns please email iCAN at firstname.lastname@example.org
10th February 2019
At the recent EGM of iCAN held on the 5th of February 2019 the board and its members decided to address some concerns in regards to the recent decisions and the unauthorized use of the iCAN name and its letterhead. We also wish to reinforce the ongoing commitment of the charity and advise of our official meeting dates of the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Details are regularly published.
The board of iCAN wishes to advise that under the provisions of our constitution and with the best interests of our charity moving forward that we had no other option than to terminate the memberships of Ms Cornelia Turni and Mr Gary Duffy from iCAN inc.
iCAN and its board have been made aware of unauthorized emails and letters that have been sent to its members and database in an attempt to hold a gathering at our community gardens site on the 9th February 2019 at 10am. The persons attempting to hold this meeting have no authority, nor do they hold any association to our organisation and have been issued with a notice from the iCAN solicitors advising that they are not permitted to enter the property situated at 89-95 Keogh Street West Ipswich.
This gathering is neither a sanctioned or authorised meeting by iCAN and matters relating to Ipswich Community Alliance Network or the iCAN Community Gardens, and will have no bearing or authority over the incorporated association its office bearers or its members.
We also take this opportunity to acknowledge that it is with sadness that we also accepted the resignations of 3 of our members, our past president Mrs. Rochelle Caloon & Mr. Glen Caloon due to work commitments & MS. Robyn Cooper and wish to thank them for their commitment and services to iCAN.
In other news, we are pleased to welcome 5 new members voted in at our last meeting and a further 12 membership applications have been received and are awaiting acceptance as members. We are proud to have so many good volunteers involved with our charity and (as we grow) we look forward to serving the Ipswich Community in 2019 and beyond.
Our postal address of Nolans Plaza, shop 8, 44 East street, Ipswich remains unchanged.
